[OpenAI and Cursor End Nearly Four-Year Partnership, Model Direct Supply to Cease Starting November 12] Odaily Planet Daily News: OpenAI has announced the end of its nearly four-year partnership with Cursor. Moving forward, OpenAI's new models will no longer be integrated with Cursor, and the direct supply of existing models is scheduled to cease on November 12, 2026. Two weeks prior, SpaceX completed a $60 billion acquisition of Cursor. According to the contract between the two parties, OpenAI has the right to terminate the partnership following Cursor's acquisition. OpenAI stated that this decision is related to trust issues with companies under Elon Musk, citing instances such as Twitter's breach of contract with OpenAI after its acquisition and xAI's prior unauthorized use of OpenAI models. Based on these considerations, OpenAI believes that continuing to provide new models to Cursor, now owned by SpaceX, poses risks.
