[Institutions Claim Up to Half of Planned Data Centers in the U.S. Face Risks of Delay or Cancellation] According to a report by Jinse Finance on August 27, Ben Dell, co-founder of investment firm Kimmeridge, stated that up to 50% of planned data centers in the U.S. could face delays or cancellations due to factors such as rising political opposition, lawsuits, and the complexities of physical infrastructure construction. 'The Silicon Valley model is colliding with the constraints of real-world infrastructure,' Dell remarked. He predicted that U.S. natural gas demand could increase by approximately 30 billion cubic feet per day in the future, with data centers potentially contributing 5 to 10 billion cubic feet of that demand. However, project delays could result in AI-related demand falling to the lower end of the forecast range. As the U.S. midterm elections approach, data centers are rapidly becoming a political issue. Opposition from both parties is growing in several states, including Pennsylvania, Texas, and Ohio.
