[Analyst: Walsh's Jackson Hole Speech May Clarify Fed's Path to Address Inflation]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on August 25, Algebris Global Credit Portfolio Manager Gabriele Foa stated that Federal Reserve Chair Walsh is expected to provide a significant update on how the Fed plans to address inflation during his speech at the Jackson Hole meeting on Friday, especially after mixed signals were released during the July press conference. He noted, 'So far, the Fed has avoided providing clear forward guidance, resulting in unusually high uncertainty around its policy reaction function.' This uncertainty is driving the U.S. Treasury yield curve to steepen, with long-term yields becoming the primary channel for releasing pressure. 'To some extent, this runs counter to the goals Besant sought to achieve by lowering long-term yields and may also indicate a lower level of coordination between the Fed and the Treasury than some market participants had previously anticipated.'
