On August 21, MANTRA Chain discovered that attackers exploited an upstream dependency vulnerability related to its Cosmos EVM module, leading to the suspension of all network transactions, transfers, and staking.
The patched version v8.4.0 is currently being tested on the DuKong testnet, and the mainnet restart will only be coordinated after successful validation. Validators have been instructed to keep their mainnet nodes offline until an official restart announcement is made. The team stated that the suspension itself did not affect user funds, but the full asset impact of the attack is yet to be confirmed, and fund flows are being tracked.
Due to the network outage, the MANTRA token dropped by 18.5%, hitting a historic low. During the chain's downtime, exchanges suspended deposits and withdrawals of the token.
