[U.S. Housing Affordability Index Worsens for the First Time Since 2023] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on August 21, a key indicator of U.S. housing affordability worsened for the first time in nearly three years due to rising borrowing costs, which have consumed a larger share of new homebuyers' income. Data released on Thursday by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Wells Fargo shows that in the second quarter of this year, the monthly payment for purchasing a median-priced home at $410,700 accounted for 34% of a typical household's income. This percentage is higher than the 32% recorded in the first quarter, reversing some of the improvements seen since early 2025.
