BitMart founder claims employee accountability statement is slander and will report to the police, ZachXBT questions: If you have the money, just return it to users.
In response to the employee accountability statement previously posted on BitMart's official Twitter account, BitMart founder Sheldon Xia stated that evidence collection has been completed, claiming the content is entirely fabricated. He plans to report it to the police and send a legal notice to the X platform requesting technical and data forensics.
Sheldon responded by saying: 'Employee assets are not prioritized over customer assets. Everyone is a customer, no one has special privileges.' This response sparked controversy.
On-chain detective @zachxbt questioned: 'If you truly have liquidity, then just return the funds to everyone instead of issuing vague statements. Your actions have already caused real people to be unable to withdraw their funds, with extremely low transparency.'
BitMart announced its shutdown on July 26, with 27 major users claiming over $3.7 million in assets are trapped. Later, BitMart's official Twitter account was allegedly taken over by employees, who issued a public statement demanding Sheldon and his partner Li Yi publicly address the whereabouts of user funds, reasons for withdrawal restrictions, and unpaid employee wages by August 19.
