The Clarity Act didn’t pass? Oh well, after watching this video, I feel enlightened.
Former CFTC Chair: Stop calling the Clarity Act the one and only hope for crypto’s survival.
He said, the internet has been around for over 30 years, and there’s never been a federal law specifically authorizing its existence.
Yet, the internet didn’t stop evolving because of that.
Similarly, even if the Clarity Act ultimately doesn’t pass, crypto innovation won’t disappear. Developers will keep writing code, protocols will keep running, and capital will continue seeking opportunities.
Blockchain doesn’t need Congress’s approval to operate.
Ironically, those who might need the Clarity Act the most are banks, brokerages, and large institutions.
Native crypto companies are already used to surviving in gray areas, overseas markets, and on-chain environments. Traditional finance, on the other hand, struggles to enter the space without clear rules.
So, the failure of the Act doesn’t mean innovation stops.
It’s more likely to mean:
Innovation will keep happening, just not necessarily in the U.S. On-chain finance will continue to grow, but U.S. banks and investors might be the last ones to get a ticket to the party.
The Clarity Act doesn’t decide whether crypto has a future—it decides whether the U.S. can stay at the center of that future.
