[Vietnam's 'Fun Coffee' involved in virtual currency scam in Hong Kong, over 1,000 victims with losses exceeding HK$1 billion] According to Hong Kong 01, 'Fun Coffee,' which claimed to be rooted in Vietnam, entered the Hong Kong market at the end of 2025. By July 2026, it was warned by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission as a suspicious investment product. The company appeared to be investing in the coffee business but was actually running a virtual currency investment scam, offering an annual interest rate as high as 222%. It eventually collapsed at the end of July. A victim group has over 370 members, with each person losing hundreds of thousands of Hong Kong dollars. Across multiple investment groups, there are a total of 4,000 victims, with losses exceeding HK$1 billion. A middle-aged woman in her 50s claimed that she unknowingly became a shareholder and director of one of Fun Coffee's Hong Kong-registered companies. She reportedly had over 100 'downlines' and has already filed a police report after receiving inquiries from reporters. The police have received 115 reports and have handed the case over to the Commercial Crime Bureau's fraud investigation team for follow-up.
