The popularity of @ anoma, which has been mentioned a lot in the Chinese section recently, is still very high. When I first saw this project, I felt that it was completely different from most L1 projects. It's difficult to summarize in one sentence what it's doing. It's not even like traditional "blockchain" anymore, but more like: redesigning "value expression".
From my understanding, Anoma is not making another "faster and cheaper" smart contract chain, they are more like thinking: if we design a chain from scratch to serve privacy, expression, and negotiation, what will it look like?
The most frequently mentioned keyword is' intent centric '
That is to say, 'intention driven' - it may sound abstract, but it is actually quite straightforward
Simply put, currently through Swap on Ethereum, transactions are carried out through explicit instructions from users, such as "I want to exchange A for B", which requires a token contract to be given and executed through the chain.
But on Anoma, you can simply say 'I want to switch to B' without caring who the counterparty is or manually matching them. The chain will find a matching trading partner based on its intention, and this process is anonymous and automated. Of course, the operations that we cannot see in this process may involve three protocols and two chains in between. For users, it is imperceptible!
In addition to the original ecological chain, Anoma has also developed a complete system around "intent", including matchers, Barter style protocols, Zero Knowledge privacy layers, and more.
It's like Ethereum where you go to an exchange to place an order - you have to fill out a form, enter the price, and click confirm to proceed with the transaction.
Anoma is more like you going to a coffee shop and saying 'I want a warm latte', and then someone hears it and brings it to you, and no one knows who you are.
It sounds a bit abstract, but they have designed this process to be very systematic, with the technology stack ranging from Namada (privacy payment) to Juvix (secure language), and then to Typhon (ZK compiler). The entire route feels like a "Change World".
In Anoma's world, transactions are not commands, but negotiations; It's not a matchmaking process between you and me, but a self-organized matchmaking at the network level.
In the past decade, we have assumed that transactions=explicit behavior+identification of the target+complete exposure. Anoma has broken down this three piece set into: expressing intention+automatic matching+default privacy.
The original logic was to allow users to operate the blockchain like machines, but now it is the blockchain that understands the ambiguity of human language.
Of course, its products have not fully started running yet, and there is still some time before actual use. But nowadays, the market is not lacking in rollups, DEX, or L2, but it does lack innovation and a chain that breaks the original trading rules. And Anoma is the project that is willing to start from first principles and recombine "expression+privacy+protocol".
