Yesterday, I visited the grieving family of Kelsey Ferrigon, the innocent 9-year-old girl whose life was cruelly stolen. It was heartbreaking to witness the pain in their eyes. No parent should ever have to bury their child. As a father, I cannot begin to comprehend the depth of their grief, and as Prime Minister, I am determined to act.
We must do more to protect our children. The Government is currently reviewing the policies surrounding the Sex Offender Registry to determine how it can be strengthened and whether greater public access could help keep our communities safer.
Too often, the rights of offenders dominate the conversation.
We must be equally, if not more, committed to defending the rights of victims, especially our most vulnerable.
To aid the investigation into Kelsey's murder, the Ministry of National Security is offering a 2 million reward. If you know something, say something. Let us come together as one community to protect our children and ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable.
