Want to launch a new coin on the Robinhood chain?

Last weekend, rumors that "Trump is going to launch a new coin on the Robinhood chain" successfully set off a market frenzy.
Amid a concoction of rumors, insider news, and on-chain movements, the TRUMP token once broke through $3.4, creating a new high since March; the official TRUMP team also seized the opportunity to sell millions of tokens, cashing out over $9.15 million. Meanwhile, Robinhood's stock price rose accordingly, with HOOD climbing over 11% at one point.
However, this farce abruptly ended with a denial from Eric Trump, Trump's second son. Given the previous "track record" of the Trump family's crypto projects, it remains uncertain whether this show truly has no sequel.
Now, let’s turn back the clock to three days ago (August 21) and review how this farce unfolded, evolved, and ultimately concluded.
A Familiar Formula, Different Flavor: "Trump Bull Market Begins" Started with Insider News
Last week, Trump made remarks at a White House cryptocurrency conference about "encouraging crypto innovation and creating a friendly regulatory environment," leading to a corresponding market rise. Coupled with actions like U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen's bond buyback, assets such as BTC and gold rebounded sharply, with BTC briefly exceeding $79,000 and gold rebounding to around $4,600, prompting the market to label it a "Trump-style bull market once again."
Many well-known figures, including Fish Pond co-founder Wang Chun and Strive CEO, also stated that "the bear market is over," with some even using Trump and the recent hit "Bull Comes" image to illustrate this surge.
After the spike, numerous rumors about Trump began to circulate, particularly an insider tidbit suggesting "Trump plans to issue a new token on the Robinhood chain at 2 AM on August 22." On the evening of August 21, the entire X platform, crypto community, and WeChat groups buzzed with this news.
When an insider rumor gains traction and becomes an "open secret," the trajectory of the story becomes quite evident.
From Trump to Trump Family Members: N Turns of False Token Issuance News
On the evening of August 21, a screenshot of a Telegram message began circulating in major crypto communities, changing the information from "Trump is issuing a token" to "Trump's son is issuing a token, but not today."
In no time, countless people recalled the scene from January 18 of last year, just three days before Trump officially took office, when the "Trump official Meme coin TRUMP" launched — the price of TRUMP skyrocketed from around $0.5 to close to $40 in just one day and peaked near $80 within three days. Many KOLs and on-chain whales reaped millions to tens of millions of dollars in massive wealth from this.
If this news were true, no one would want to miss out on another opportunity for wealth, even if this token might be a "money-losing project" like MELANIA or the Libra issued by Milai.
That night, due to the market's credible rumors, countless people began to monitor on-chain activity, fearing that a new token might suddenly appear as "Trump team's second work." Soon, on-chain dynamics began to perform its own spectacle, pushing this "token issuance farce" to a new climax.
On-chain dynamics initiated: Suspected Trump Team Testing New Coin Issuance, Named WWW?
On August 22, after a night of inactivity, amidst skepticism from the market and community, details concerning "Trump team's token issuance" gradually shifted focus to on-chain activities.
Several crypto community members posted updates stating: "A newly created wallet on the Robinhood chain received 290 ETH, suspected to be a token issuance test by the Trump family, with the token code WWW. The first version of the issued token had a 10% transaction tax, which was later adjusted to 0.3%. The market cap was then around $10 million, with developers holding about 99.9% of the tokens, and the token name being Truth Coin." Some pointed out another token named Test Coin with a similar situation, totaling 1 billion tokens.
However, later confirmations by several crypto community members and KOLs indicated that this was merely a "scam artist" known for frequently executing Rug pulls. Crypto Jargon published a detailed analysis of the related addresses and fund flows. Another "token issuance dynamic" was gradually debunked with skepticism.
A Wave of Rumors: Discussion About Trump Family's Upcoming Token Launch Explodes on X Platform
On August 22, news about "the Trump family is about to launch a token" began to spread across the X platform, with numerous crypto accounts, big and small, posting about this for either traffic hype, insider knowledge, or to leverage audience FOMO psychology, claiming the Trump family would launch a token.
Among them, "crypto marketing account" doomer stated, "According to insiders from WLFI: the Trump family plans to launch tokens like BARRON and DONJR in October";
Ronald Carter, with nearly 200,000 followers, posted that "Trump is about to issue a new token in one month."
Crypto giant Whale Scan, with over 280,000 followers, also joined the hype. This account posted around 2 AM on August 23, claiming, "Trump is about to launch a new token, I am the first to call this news—remember to turn on the notification bell."

Thus, "I WILL BE THE FIRST TO CALL IT" became the "traffic code" for crypto accounts, and more and more people joined the carnival of this "token issuance farce." Meanwhile, the TRUMP team quietly completed their selling actions amidst market discussions.
TRUMP Team Quickly Dumps Millions of TRUMP Tokens: Total Sales Exceed $12 Million
On August 20, benefiting from Trump's remarks and a series of advantageous policy-related news, TRUMP surged more than 26% in one day, peaking at $1.865;
Two days later, on August 22, TRUMP briefly broke through $3.4, reaching a new high since March 21, with a nearly 100% increase in 24 hours.
On August 23, the TRUMP token team's address (2RH...FSK) transferred out 3.837 million SOL, worth $9.33 million, entering OKX after passing through BitGo.
On August 24, the TRUMP token team address (BDNB...mx66) sold another 1.1 million TRUMP tokens using unilateral liquidity addition that day, exchanging for 2.94 million USDC, with an average sale price of $2.68.
Thus, the TRUMP team, leveraging the market rumors of "Trump is going to issue a new coin" and the hype surrounding TRUMP tokens, successfully profited over $12 million and later vanished, marking them as true "behind-the-scenes operators."
Why? Because Eric Trump, as Trump's second son, had already made a statement to dispel this rumor on the morning of August 23.
Eric Trump Personally Dispels Rumors: "Token Issuance is a Joke, Whoever Says So is a Fraud"
On August 23, shortly after the Whale Scan post, Eric Trump saw the post claiming the Trump family was going to issue a token, and he responded, "This is truly a joke... this is absolutely not true. No one is issuing any type of token. If anyone suggests otherwise, that is a scam." Thus, the crypto farce of "Trump is going to issue a new coin" finally reached its end, although the aftermath of this hype event continues to spread in the market.

Aftermath of the Event: Who is Going to Issue a Coin: Trump Himself? Trump Media Group? Or a Member of the Trump Family?
After Eric Trump's denial, the crypto market and community continued to discuss the following aspects:
Crypto KOL Crypto Fearless posted, "The president's new coin incident seems to be a fraud orchestrated by a certain proactive MM (Note from Odaily Planet Daily: market maker), potentially collaborated with some conspiracy groups to hype it and spread it to on-chain user circles."
Crypto KOL Beijiang Blockchain also pointed out, "I think Trump won’t issue a token because of the CLARITY Act, which clearly states that Trump is required to divest from crypto business, and he has agreed to this provision. The Senate will vote on the clarity act in September, and now the token issuance only suggests that Trump’s son has some issues."
Crypto KOL Blockchain National Treasure pointed out, "Trump has not issued a coin, but Trump Media or World Liberty Financial officially confirmed 'a new, freely tradable Trump Meme Coin is about to be issued.'" He argued, "The claims in the market largely confuse several different matters — Trump Media did previously announce a digital token plan for DJT shareholders: as of the record date of February 2, 2026, eligible shareholders would receive one token for each share of DJT held. The official terms clearly state: this token does not represent equity in Trump Media or any other entity, nor is it a tokenized version of DJT stock; and according to the announced plan, the token cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. Its potential use is to provide holders with rights or discounts for products such as Truth Social, Truth+, Truth Predict, etc.
Thus, the entire "Trump is going to issue a coin" crypto farce has finally concluded its last chapter. As for the future, will the Trump family issue a coin in a month or this October? In whose name will the tokens be issued among family members? When will the tokens from Trump Media Group go live? Will Trump himself issue a second token? Will the issued tokens be on the Robinhood chain? All remains unknown.
Whether this farce has a sequel, we shall wait and see.
