The Financial Services Commission of South Korea will implement the Seven Principles of Financial AI on June 22
On June 18, the Financial Services Commission of South Korea released a revised version of the "Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector," which will be implemented across the entire financial industry and FinTech companies starting June 22. The new guidelines apply to financial companies introducing AI and FinTech businesses that affect financial transactions, establishing seven principles: governance, legality, assistive nature, reliability, financial stability, duty of integrity, and safety.
The South Korean government plans to relax certain network isolation security regulations applicable to financial institutions, improve the personal credit information consent system, data anonymization processes, and integrate relevant rules, as well as study responsibility and authority regulations for AI agents and specialized supervisory plans for AI. On the same day the guidelines are implemented, the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea will release a risk management framework for AI in the financial sector, and the Financial Security Institute will publish safety guidelines for AI in finance.
