Air defense missiles, a new agreement to strengthen our combat aviation, at least €515 million in support, and guaranteed gas supplies from Greece – these are the key outcomes of this week’s visits to Greece, France, and Spain. Greece is becoming an important energy hub for Ukraine and for all of Central and Eastern Europe. In Athens, we signed an agreement on gas supplies for Ukraine for this winter – this will help us get through the heating season despite Russia’s continued attacks on our energy system. I am grateful to Greece and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for their support! France will significantly strengthen our defense. In Paris, we reached a strategic agreement on 100 Rafale F4 aircraft by 2035, SAMP/T air defense systems, modern radars, air-to-air missiles, and guided aerial bombs. Ukraine will also receive a new military assistance package by the end of the year. I am grateful to France and President Macron for these decisions! Spain continues to provide large-scale support to Ukraine and bolster our air defense. In Madrid, Prime Minister Sánchez announced a contribution of €100 million to the PURL initiative for Ukraine to purchase air defense missiles, €215 million for the SAFE instrument, and €200 million for our energy sector. Spain is also assisting with our urgent needs and is preparing a new defense package that includes IRIS-T air defense missiles. I thank Spain for these steps!
