The United States Senate has passed a procedural motion (clone) to amend the GENIUS stablecoin bill by 68 votes to 30, paving the way for a final vote that will take place as early as next Monday, unless the two parties reach an agreement to shorten the debate time. Previously, the Senate attempted to push the bill forward in May but failed to pass it. About a week later, a procedural motion was passed again with 66 votes to 32. The bill requires stablecoins to be fully reserved in US dollars or equivalent highly liquid assets, and annual audits should be conducted on issuers with a market value exceeding 50 billion US dollars.
