[32 Price Manipulation Attacks Recorded in 2026, Impacting Nearly $50 Billion Crypto Lending Market] Odaily Planet Daily News: Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs reported that 32 price manipulation attacks have been recorded in 2026, surpassing the total number in any previous full year; there were 12 such attacks in all of 2025. These attacks account for approximately one-eighth of all hacking incidents, up from one-seventeenth in 2022. Attackers typically inflate the price of low-liquidity tokens, use them as collateral to borrow other assets from lending protocols, then rapidly crash the collateral's price and abandon the collateral, potentially leaving lending pools with bad debt. According to DeFiLlama data, the total value locked in crypto asset collateralized lending protocols has grown by approximately 56% over the past two years, nearing $50 billion, with active loan volumes approaching $29 billion. Currently, the sector comprises over 570 lending protocols. Recently, Tectonic suffered losses exceeding $70 million due to the artificial inflation of TONIC's price, while Cronos experienced a rollback attack that ultimately allowed attackers to acquire approximately $6 million in assets. Moonwell also previously incurred losses of around $8.7 million due to manipulation of MAMO oracle prices. (Bitcoin.com News)
