[Jensen Huang: AI Will Create Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs, Skilled Trades May See a Boom]
Golden Finance reports that on September 1, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently stated that the AI revolution will not only lead to job displacement but will also create 'hundreds of thousands' of new job opportunities, particularly for skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and technicians. He pointed out that as chip factories, packaging facilities, data centers, and 'AI factories' continue to be built, the demand in the U.S. for technical workers who can 'make things with their hands' will increase significantly.
Huang noted that technological revolutions often reshape the job market: 'Some jobs will be eliminated, but many new jobs will also emerge.' He believes that white-collar jobs will not disappear in the short term, while the construction of AI infrastructure will drive a boom in the skilled trades sector.
According to reports, by 2030, the U.S. may face a shortage of approximately 2.1 million skilled trade positions, including around 130,000 new electrician jobs. Meanwhile, the construction of data centers is rapidly expanding employment demand, with QTS predicting that the number of workers at its project sites will grow from about 10,000 in 2025 to 40,000 by the end of 2026.
Huang has previously described the construction of AI infrastructure as 'one of the largest infrastructure projects in human history.' As data centers, power, and cooling facilities continue to expand, the shortage of skilled tradespeople could become a significant bottleneck for the further growth of the AI industry.
