[The Number of Days This Year with 30-Year U.S. Treasury Yields Closing Above 5% Hits Highest Since 2006]
BlockBeats News, September 1: The duration of elevated yields on U.S. ultra-long-term Treasury bonds has reached its longest stretch since 2006. Driven by factors such as massive fiscal deficits, another wave of corporate bond issuance, and a potentially decisive Federal Reserve meeting, investors are expected to remain cautious in the coming weeks. The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield briefly climbed to 5.34% in mid-August, the highest level since 2007, just 10 basis points below the highest level in 22 years. As of Monday, the number of days this year with 30-year Treasury yields closing above 5% has reached 55 days, the most in a single year since 2006. On Tuesday, the yield stood at 5.27%.
