These platforms are required to strengthen their handling of illegal and harmful content under the Digital Services Act (DSA), submit transparency reports, risk mitigation plans, and pay annual fees to the EU. Non-compliance could result in fines of up to 6% of their global annual revenue. The DSA also mandates platforms to enhance protections for minors and ensure advertising transparency. EU regulators have already launched over a dozen investigations into various online platforms under this law.
