The latest Flow Show report from BofA's Hartnett features the striking statement: 'Bonds boss the bubble.' The bond market is reining in this asset boom. He believes that only when the 30-year Treasury yield drops below 5% will the underperformance of AI spenders (MAGS) and AI builders (SOX) relative to AI adopters come to an end.
According to BofA's report, gold saw $7.3 billion in inflows over the past week, while cryptocurrencies recorded $3.2 billion in inflows, both marking the largest scale since October 25 years ago. In stark contrast, U.S. equities experienced $4.4 billion in outflows, the first in five weeks, and high-yield bonds saw $700 million in outflows. Although the tech and materials sectors still attracted inflows, the overall fund flow trend is showing a defensive stance.
Funds are indeed pulling out of traditional risk assets and shifting toward alternative safe-haven assets.
