According to Forbes, the European digital currency market is shaping up with a dual-track development of the central bank digital euro and private euro stablecoins. Revolut has previously launched phased testing of the EURR stablecoin in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. This euro stablecoin operates on Ethereum and is issued by Bridge Building, a subsidiary of Stripe. Meanwhile, the ECB emphasizes that the digital euro will feature a highly private design, where offline payment information is only accessible to the transaction parties, and online transactions cannot be directly linked to individuals by the Eurosystem. Forbes believes Europe is advancing its digital payment system through both public digital currencies and private stablecoins to reduce reliance on dollar stablecoins and non-European payment infrastructures.
