On August 28, Cosmos Labs disclosed that a misjudged EVM vulnerability was exploited on six networks, including MANTRA, resulting in nearly $6 million in losses. They have contacted 40 networks, of which 13 have already patched or suspended operations. The vulnerability was first reported on April 25 and was assessed as low risk due to assumptions about decimals. The actual attack began on August 20, exploiting an unsigned integer underflow to generate an abnormally large balance, which then caused another account to overflow, allowing legitimate balances to be withdrawn without increasing the total supply.
