The internet started as a U.S. Defense project. ARPA, later DARPA, built ARPANET so labs and command posts could share computers. The US dominated the internet after. The NSA designed SHA-256. NIST, under Commerce, published it in 2002 as FIPS 180-2. #Bitcoin ✅ SHA-256 twice: mining, txids, Merkle trees, Base58 checksums. ✅ RIPEMD-160(SHA-256): classic address hashes. ✅ Tagged SHA-256: Taproot / Schnorr (BIP 340–341). There is a fair chance that the US is holding the keys to the Satoshi Nakamoto stack of 1 million BTC I would say. US institutions now run the BTC liquidity. ETFs and DATs hold the tradable float.(Seth)
