A man claims he split a $394 million jackpot with himself. He collected one half, while the other half disappeared along with a missing ticket. Faramarz Lahijani says he bought two identical Mega Millions tickets at the same Chevron station in Encino for the December 8, 2023 drawing. The $394 million jackpot was split between two winning tickets. Lahijani came forward with one ticket in June 2024 and collected $197.5 million. He claimed he also had the second winning ticket, worth another $197.5 million, but could not produce it. In December 2024, just before the deadline to claim the prize, Lahijani sued the California Lottery for the remaining $197.5 million. A Los Angeles judge dismissed the lawsuit in January 2026, ruling that California law does not allow the Lottery to pay a prize without the physical winning ticket. Then another person, Cheryl Wilson, separately claimed she possessed the missing ticket and demanded the same $197.5 million. But neither she nor Lahijani has produced it. For now, the second half of the jackpot remains unclaimed. Under California law, without the physical winning ticket, nobody can collect it.(Historic Vids)
