[Chevron and Other U.S. Energy Companies Plan to Invest Billions of Dollars in Venezuelan Oil Fields]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on August 28, as reported by *The Wall Street Journal*, Chevron (CVX.N) and other U.S. energy companies are nearing an agreement to invest billions of dollars in Venezuelan oil fields. This could provide a breakthrough for President Trump after months of slow-moving negotiations. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Chevron is close to finalizing a deal to expand its long-standing operations in this Latin American country and may potentially add two additional heavy oil fields in Venezuela to its asset portfolio. Currently, Chevron and Venezuela's state-owned oil company, PDVSA, jointly own three joint ventures, and Chevron remains the only major U.S. company operating in Venezuela. Sources also stated that Halliburton (HAL.N), one of the largest oilfield services companies in the U.S., is also in talks to bring its full suite of equipment into Venezuela to provide services for local oil producers.
