《HKD Stablecoin Launch: Who Takes the Lead》 (Author: Tree District Blockchain)
After the rollout of Hong Kong's stablecoin licensing, Dingdian Finance and HSBC have chosen different paths: HKDAP is entering institutional scenarios first through authorized distributors like HashKey and OSL, focusing on cross-border settlements, institutional payments, and on-chain settlement of RWAs. Meanwhile, HSBC plans to integrate stablecoins into PayMe and the HSBC HK App, targeting its existing retail users.
HKDAP is positioned as a payment and settlement tool pegged 1:1 to the Hong Kong dollar, backed by 100% high-liquidity asset reserves, and adopts a B2B2C distribution model. However, after reviewing its Ethereum mainnet contract, BlockSec pointed out issues with KYC verification, governance permissions, time locks, and duty separation in its design. This highlights that beyond distribution channels, the security and compliance reliability of the underlying system will also be key variables in the competition for HKD stablecoins.
