Bithumb wins first instance in recovery case for 'mis sending Bitcoin' According to Digital Asset, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has won its first instance lawsuit for the "mistaken issuance of Bitcoin" incident, with the court ruling that users holding the sale proceeds of the mistakenly issued Bitcoin must return approximately 194 million Korean won (approximately 145000 US dollars). In February of this year, Bithumb caused a huge controversy by issuing 620000 bitcoins (worth approximately $5 billion at the time) due to incorrect activity rewards. Subsequently, Bithumb launched a recycling program and reported in March that 99% of mistakenly sent Bitcoin had been recycled. This is the first judgment in the four lawsuits filed against users who have not returned their funds, and the probability of Bithumb winning the subsequent three lawsuits has also increased. The basis for the court's judgment and whether the defendant appealed have not been disclosed yet.
