[Baidu Group: To Commence Dual Primary Listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Starting September 1] According to IT Home, Baidu Group announced on August 27 via the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that the company has voluntarily decided to convert its secondary listing status on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to a primary listing, effective September 1, 2026. From the effective date, the company will have dual primary listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. The stock marker 'S' will be removed from the stock short names in both the Hong Kong dollar and RMB counters on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange starting September 1, 2026, following the primary listing conversion. It is understood that Baidu was previously only secondarily listed in Hong Kong, with its listing status tied to the primary market on Nasdaq in the United States, which disqualified it from being included in the 'Stock Connect' program. This prevented substantial mainland Chinese investor funds from directly investing in the company. If Baidu successfully obtains Stock Connect eligibility, it would help enhance the liquidity of the company's securities, expand its investor base, and provide greater flexibility in accessing both capital markets.
