Cosmos Labs quietly patched a shared vulnerability in its Cosmos EVM module last week, which had already led to funds being drained from three blockchains. They are now urging validators of affected networks to pause their chains. KiiChain lost nearly 150 million KII tokens (worth about $9 million at the time, but only $1.6 million BUSD after being sold off), while the TAC staking contract suffered a loss of 3 billion TAC tokens (around $7.5 million). The silent patch left downstream chains that hadn’t upgraded still exposed to risks, a move that has drawn criticism from the security community.
