El Salvador's Bitcoin Core contributor Jon Atack revealed that a restaurant in the famous local surf town of El Zonte (aka 'Bitcoin Beach') told him that his lunch payment that day was the only Bitcoin transaction they had received all month. Some employees even admitted they had forgotten how to use the Bitcoin payment software, bluntly stating that daily payment activity has gone quiet. Analysts point out that as more holders view BTC as a savings reserve rather than a medium of exchange, the 'HODL' mentality has intensified. Combined with the convenience of card payments, the willingness to use BTC for daily on-chain transactions has significantly declined. Additionally, after reaching a loan agreement with the IMF, El Salvador has revised its regulations, changing the requirement for merchants to accept Bitcoin payments from mandatory to voluntary.
