The head of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto, Przemysław Kral, has been accused of involvement in large-scale fraud and is currently cooperating with prosecutors in Poland in hopes of a reduced sentence.
Prosecutors estimate customer losses to be at least 2.4 billion Polish złoty (approximately $650 million), alleging that only part of the customer funds were used to purchase crypto, while the rest was transferred to private accounts controlled by the management. Kral denies embezzling funds, claiming the missing Bitcoin was stored in cold wallets, with the private keys held by former CEO Sylwester Suszek, who went missing in 2022.
