Yesterday, Robinhood's CEO @vladtenev mentioned in a blog post: 'If you hold a meme coin, you'll receive an airdrop of stock tokens.'
My thoughts are pretty aligned with @vladtenev. Nowadays, memes are essentially growth tools for promoting new products across different ecosystems. Many memes carry a sort of 'political mission,' where project teams use the meme itself and its wealth effect to guide users toward products within the ecosystem's development.
Recently, the direction that major platforms are betting on has been surprisingly consistent: tokenizing U.S. stocks.
▪️ Binance launched bStocks, with a clear focus on U.S. stock tokens.
▪️ Robinhood introduced Robinhood Chain for RWA assets.
▪️ Base rolled out the B20 protocol, launching four U.S. stock tokens.
However, the development of U.S. stock memes on each chain varies, and I think it boils down to the following points:
- Whether the on-chain U.S. stock tokens have sufficient liquidity.
- Whether the chain has enough U.S. stock tokens, especially star stocks.
So over the weekend, I created a small dashboard specifically to monitor U.S. stock tokens on Robinhood and Base, tracking new token issuances, trading volumes, and liquidity changes.
It's clear that Base is progressing much slower in the U.S. stock token space. Early last month, Base announced 13 U.S. stock tokens, but as of now, only 4 have actually launched, while the other 9 tickers haven't even been minted yet.
In contrast, Robinhood Chain is clearly ahead in terms of both asset quantity and liquidity. Binance's bStocks, although not yet integrated into the website, appears to have the highest overall market cap based on third-party data.
From past experience, BNB Chain tends to lag behind in hotspots—if others have it, they'll want it too; if others pump, they'll siphon off the gains.
U.S. stock memes also have their nuances: 'Turning tokenized stocks into a new layer of rewards.' The best U.S. stock memes should inherently drive attention and adoption for the ecosystem's stock tokens.
▪️ Marscoin on BNB Chain combines memes, token-holder dividends, and bStocks.
▪️ Robinhood's StonkBrokers follows a similar logic, essentially attracting attention to on-chain U.S. stock assets.
In summary: Robinhood is worth a shot, Base needs to wait for the next round of U.S. stock token minting, and BNB Chain is better for late entries.
