[Samsung Electronics' Shareholder Return Plan Falls Short of Market Expectations, Stock Drops 8% in Early Trading]
BlockBeats News, August 24: Samsung Electronics' stock fell 8% in early trading this Monday after the company announced a record $79 billion shareholder return plan. However, the market had expected Samsung to allocate more cash profits from the AI boom to shareholders and provide further clarity on its stock buyback plan, leading to disappointment with the proposal.
Last Friday, Samsung stated that this year's shareholder return scale would range between 90 trillion to 110 trillion won, including a 30 trillion won cash dividend to be distributed in the third quarter. Eugene Securities analyst Sohn In-joon commented, "Samsung Electronics neither mentioned the possibility of raising its existing shareholder return policy nor announced plans to cancel treasury shares, which is disappointing."
Morgan Stanley noted that investors need to pay attention to how Samsung will allocate the remaining 60 trillion to 80 trillion won in January next year, as well as the next phase of its capital return framework, which will take effect next year. (Jin10)
