[Polygon Advancing Staking and Tokenomics Reform Proposal, POL Staking Yield Expected to Double] Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal stated in a post that, in response to strong community demand, the team is advancing the Polygon staking and tokenomics reform proposal and has shared some preview details. The Polygon PoS network plans to introduce a native staking mechanism similar to L1, running in parallel with Ethereum staking. Priority fees generated from each transaction will be allocated to POL stakers, a mechanism previously approved in PIP-85. It is expected that POL staking yields will nearly double, with the additional yield primarily coming from actual network fees rather than token inflation. Staking POL will offer more rewards to incentivize greater participation in POL staking, including Gas fee discounts, and will promote the use of liquid staking token sPOL in DeFi applications.
