[Iranian Parliament Approves Service Fees for Ships Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz] BlockBeats News, August 24: According to Iran's Mehr News Agency, Hassan Kashkavi, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, announced on Sunday that the committee has approved Article 3 of the 'Strategic Action Plan to Ensure the Security and Development of the Strait of Hormuz.' Hassan Kashkavi stated: 'Under this provision, we will charge fees for maritime services, environmental services, fuel supply under special circumstances, insurance, security, and other services provided.' These fees will be collected from ships of relevant countries authorized to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and will be paid in rials or other currencies designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Hassan Kashkavi emphasized that the rights of coastal countries along the Strait of Hormuz must be respected. He noted that international laws and regulations, in addition to recognizing freedom of navigation, also stress the importance of respecting the security and sovereignty of coastal states and preventing violations of these rights.
