Recently, I’ve been feeling more and more that defending in the crypto space is harder than attacking. The money you earn from grinding or trading can disappear overnight, leaving you with nothing. During this massive pump in $BTC, a lot of people around me, including myself, instinctively shorted the market. The result? Tens of thousands of dollars lost in one go, and for some, losses exceeded a million. And this capital came from countless nights grinding or sitting on-chain. Although the airdrop scene is gradually declining, for most retail investors, grinding for rewards is still the lowest-risk way to accumulate wealth. Trading time for candy doesn’t require much upfront capital, and if you’re lucky, you can still score big. However, the logic behind grinding has changed. The days of earning money just by spamming a few transactions are long gone. Now, you need to adapt and think: who will project teams reward in the future? If you can’t figure it out, I wouldn’t recommend jumping in blindly. Take @TermMaxFi, which is about to launch its TGE, as an example. While opinions are mixed, it’s actually relatively friendly to retail investors compared to many other projects. I’m not trying to whitewash the project, but since I’ve been involved earlier than most, I have more authority to speak on this. Since last year, I’ve been recommending friends in my group to grind for MP rewards because, no matter how hard you try on XP or AP, you can’t compete with the whales in the front row. Their massive funds dilute everyone else’s points to a painful degree. The results were pretty much as I expected. Many diligent MP grinders scored tens of thousands of TMX tokens in the airdrop (excluding those flagged as sybil accounts). While it’s not comparable to the massive rewards of the past, it’s still decent given the current market conditions. A lot of people didn’t notice that after the airdrop results were announced, the team launched the S1 airdrop campaign simultaneously. It’s more interactive (like check-ins, raffles, etc.), kind of like playing a game with levels. There’s still room for grinding, but it’s not fully open yet—you need a code to participate.
