BTC ETH Back to the top of the annual leaderboard again! This time, it wasn’t easy. This real trading account is dedicated to crypto, mostly Bitcoin, with occasional trades in Ethereum, altcoins, and U.S. stocks. Since Bitcoin dropped to $60K in February this year, I’ve strategically chosen to go long on Bitcoin after closing shorts. There were a few opportunities to short in between, but I gave them up on principle. Honestly, it was a bit frustrating, but making money by shorting at this level would’ve made me feel worse—it wouldn’t have felt like money I should’ve earned, like holding a hot potato. The past few months of going long have been tough, with significant wear and tear. My win rate even dropped to just over 20%, and my total drawdown is nearing my preset safety line—20%. If it hits that drawdown, I’ll force myself into a contract cooldown period. This is a hard rule I set for myself a long time ago. A lot of friends are saying Bitcoin will drop to $40K or even $30K, that there’s one last dip before the bottom forms, and that the bottom will definitely appear by the end of the year. Looking around the market, the consensus is shockingly unified! This has made me extremely cautious. November 14, 2018; March 12, 2020; May 19, 2021; October 11 last year—every time, I managed to avoid the crash, but each of these instances happened because the market was overly certain, leading to completely opposite outcomes. Trading is about making money from uncertainty. When an event has extremely high certainty across the market, it usually means there’s almost no profit to be made. Also, I think for ordinary people, don’t worry too much about what others think or how much money they’ve made. For you, it’s just an illusion, like the moon in water or a flower in a mirror. When trading, whether you’re going long or short, once you’ve decided on a direction, it’s best to stick to one side to avoid internal conflict. In a bull market, find ways to enter long positions at every pullback; in a bear market, short at every rebound high. This time, I don’t know how high it’ll go. I just made the right bet—I got lucky. If I have any strengths, I think my biggest one is my ability to endure, control drawdowns, understand my limits, and only make money within my circle of competence. Plus, my commitment to my trading system: volatility and consecutive losses are good things—they validate my loyalty to my principles and set me apart from others.
