[Insider: Two Binance employees detained by police in the UAE, Binance states they were only cooperating with routine investigations]
Foresight News reports, citing insiders via *The New York Times*, that two Binance employees were detained by police in the United Arab Emirates in recent weeks as authorities investigate potential financial crimes related to the cryptocurrency platform. The report states that the two employees were stopped at the UAE airport, but the specific details of the investigation by UAE authorities remain unclear.
Regarding the situation, Binance told Reuters that as part of a routine investigation into the movement of third-party funds through Binance customer accounts, the company requested a small number of employees to provide statements to UAE authorities. These employees were not the subjects of the investigation, have been cleared of any wrongdoing, and have been released.
Binance stated that the operational mechanisms of cryptocurrency and institutional client fund accounts remain an emerging concept in many jurisdictions. Binance is engaging in constructive cooperation with Dubai police and other relevant authorities in the Emirates to establish clear and appropriate coordination procedures.
