**[Anthropic Hires Google Chip Executive to Accelerate In-House Chip Development]**
BlockBeats News, August 22: Anthropic has hired Amir Salek, one of the founders of Alphabet (GOOG.O) subsidiary Google's custom chip project, as the AI lab paves the way for its entry into the in-house semiconductor field. Salek's addition marks a part of its hardware strategy.
Anthropic stated on Friday that Salek will join the company's computing team. Salek previously led Google's Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) business until his departure in 2022 and oversaw the delivery of the first seven generations of TPU chips.
Currently, Anthropic sources chips from multiple suppliers, including NVIDIA (NVDA.O), Google, and Amazon (AMZN.O). However, the company has recently signaled its intention to establish its own internal chip business.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Anthropic has already begun recruiting for this project and has posted related job openings. [Original Link]
