Man renovating his home discovers a note left behind in 1975. Carpenter Dakota Mohn went viral after discovering a handwritten message from 1975 hidden inside the wall of a home he was renovating in Green Valley, Illinois. While removing part of the fire-damaged living room wall in the 150-year-old house, Mohn noticed an inscription on the wooden framing that read, “Note 9/29/1975,” with arrows pointing toward a small hidden compartment. Inside, he found an old bottle containing a remarkably well-preserved two-page letter written nearly 50 years earlier by 14-year-old Stephanie Herron. The letter offered a glimpse into her everyday life, mentioning her father’s job, the neighbors, Gerald Ford’s presidency, and her pregnant mother, who was expecting a baby soon. After Mohn shared the discovery online, people helped track down the letter’s original author, now Stephanie Poit. She was stunned to see the message again, having completely forgotten that she had ever written it.(Historic Vids)
