To be honest, before posting this, I didn’t intend for anyone to use me as a tool, so I did a lot of homework. One key point is that the USD1 contract has not undergone a complete, public smart contract security audit.
This isn’t just my opinion—this was mentioned in an Aave governance proposal from August 2025.
“No public audits are available, though the team reports that PeckShield has audited USD1 contracts and that more audits will be done as the protocol develops. Given that these are not public, limited value can be placed in them.”
(Currently, there are no publicly available audit reports. However, the project team claims that PeckShield has audited the USD1 smart contracts and that more audits will be conducted as the protocol evolves.)
So, is there one now? As of now, PeckShield’s own public audit reports repository still doesn’t show any reports for USD1 or World Liberty.
The official World Liberty `usd1-smart-contracts` GitHub repository does not have any public audit files or reports, and the last update to that repository was on July 14, 2025.
What World Liberty has made public are USD1 reserve verification reports, which are explicitly labeled on their website as monthly attestation reports. These pertain to reserve asset verification, not Solidity smart contract security audits.
So, although the World Liberty team claims that PeckShield has completed an audit, as of August 2026, I still haven’t found this PeckShield report. Meanwhile, the USD1 on-chain contract has already been upgraded to the new StablecoinV2, with added permissions like `drain` and `reallocate`.
From a factual standpoint, as I mentioned earlier, this doesn’t count as a “backdoor” since it’s openly written into the contract. However, there’s indeed no evidence proving that the USD1 contract has been audited. Without a public audit report, there’s no way for external parties to independently verify its scope, the issues found, the fixes made, or whether the audit even covered the current live V2 version.
