Just checked out @CryptoHayes hyping up FLOP and his first Genesis piece, *The Book of Genesis*. Gotta say:
Hayes really dares to dream big and execute boldly—he’s an absolute master of crafting narratives!
Hayes breaks down his vision for the next wave of Crypto AI into three levels:
1⃣ The most basic past iteration of AI + Crypto: launch an Agent Token, and the Agent tweets stuff on Twitter. This is already overplayed and worn out.
2⃣ DePIN + GPU + decentralized compute markets. Projects like Render, Akash, http://io.net, and parts of Bittensor’s narrative are already doing similar things.
3⃣ Once AI Agents become economic entities, they’ll need their own production resources market and native settlement currency.
He points out a current issue with AI compute markets: there’s no unified “money.”
So his vision for Flop Network is:
AI Agent issues an inference task → Miners provide GPU/compute power to execute it → Validators confirm task completion → Agent pays with FLOP.
This way, no matter what country you’re in, what computer you’re using, or what model you’re running, it could potentially create a unified global market price for a unit of compute power.
And of course, Hayes came to a very Hayes-esque conclusion:
If the AI Agent economy really grows to the scale predicted by the big players, the potential value of Flop Network could be several orders of magnitude larger than Bitcoin.
Take that with a grain of salt though…
Right now, Flop’s tech is still at the PPT stage. The full whitepaper, final tokenomics, underlying chain selection, security audits, and the core PoUI verification mechanism haven’t been fully disclosed yet.
Especially since AI inference often has non-deterministic results, how validators will prove that “this GPU actually completed the specified model, the specified amount of computation, and produced the correct result” is a really tough problem.
Also, I’m highly skeptical about his claim of “using FLOPs to unify global compute prices”...
Damn, if they actually pull this off before Q4, forget competing with existing payment standards and stablecoins—they’d just dominate the entire space outright!
