According to Bloomberg, Michael Selig, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), stated that even if Congress fails to pass the crypto market structure bill (Clarity Act), the crypto industry will still receive regulatory guidelines. Selig mentioned that the CFTC is evaluating multiple crypto regulatory measures and can establish relevant rules under existing legal authority. The Clarity Act is currently stalled due to Senate disputes over ethical provisions, with a procedural vote expected in September.
Additionally, the CFTC is advancing regulatory rules for prediction market event contracts, aiming to finalize the regulations soon, while also seeking public input on 'computing power futures' trading related to AI computing power. Selig noted that the CFTC will collaborate with the Department of Commerce to develop AI computing power futures standards to ensure these products meet regulatory requirements.
