[U.S. IRS Warns Cryptocurrency Holders Not to Scan Fake Letter QR Codes] Odaily Planet Daily reports that Bitcoin News posted on the X platform stating that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has warned cryptocurrency holders about receiving fraudulent letters mailed by scammers. These letters direct recipients to visit a fake 'Digital Asset Compliance Portal.' The letters contain QR codes which, when scanned, redirect users to a counterfeit IRS website that may request personal information, wallet details, exchange account credentials, or other sensitive data. The IRS clarified that it does not operate a platform called 'Digital Asset Compliance Portal' nor has it sent out these letters. According to reports, Coinbase and DarkTower have traced the infrastructure behind this activity to a recently registered domain hosted in Romania. If you receive such letters, do not scan the QR code or provide any information.
