[Ministry of Commerce Responds to U.S. Tariffs on Drones]
At a regular press conference held on the 20th, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong responded to questions regarding the U.S. imposing tariffs on drones. He stated that China has taken note of the U.S. decision to impose Section 232 tariffs on drones and their components. China has consistently maintained that the U.S. Section 232 measures, under the guise of "national security," are unilateral and protectionist actions.
In fact, Chinese drone exports to the U.S. are primarily used in civilian scenarios such as agriculture, equipment inspections, and film and entertainment. He Yadong emphasized that the U.S. Section 232 measures broaden the concept of national security, impose differentiated tariff rates on trade partners, and discriminate against Chinese products, severely harming the interests of Chinese enterprises, disrupting the global drone production and supply chain cooperation, and further undermining a fair and competitive market environment. China firmly opposes this.
We urge the U.S. to immediately revoke the Section 232 tariff measures. (Xinhua News Agency)
