[Democratic Senator Warns: Rushed Vote on CLARITY Act Could Set Legislative Progress Backward] Odaily Planet Daily News – U.S. Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego stated at the SALT Blockchain Conference in Wyoming that rushing to submit the CLARITY Act for a Senate vote before resolving ethical issues and disputes over stablecoin yields could potentially set back the legislative progress of the U.S. crypto market structure. Gallego emphasized that the crypto industry should encourage continued negotiations between Senate Democrats and Republicans rather than pushing for an immediate vote. The senator noted that lawmakers still need to address portions of the bill under the jurisdiction of the Agriculture Committee, integrate broader proposals, and determine the method for submitting the bill to the House of Representatives, while also striving to secure the 60 votes required for Senate approval. Gallego further revealed that he and Republican Senator Thom Tillis had submitted a compromise version of ethical provisions to the White House before Congress recessed, but have yet to receive detailed feedback. He believes that sufficiently stringent ethical restrictions are essential for gaining Democratic support and advancing the bill. On Wednesday, Trump met with crypto industry executives at the White House and urged Congress to pass a "fair version" of the CLARITY Act. Senate leadership has postponed action on the bill until September, with Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously stating that lawmakers would prioritize the bill after returning from recess.
