Watched *The Odyssey* for the second time—here’s an interesting tidbit. When Agamemnon led troops to seize Helen (casting her was the biggest fail of the show), Odysseus and other small city-state rulers were obligated to send troops too. And if any city-state was attacked, the others had to come to its aid. Any city-state that didn’t follow these rules would be kicked out of the alliance—or even attacked. This is basically the concept of blockchain: no absolute central authority, but as long as everyone follows the rules, you get a stable collaborative network. From this perspective, Satoshi Nakamoto definitely wasn’t from a Confucian cultural circle.
