[Kalshi Applies to Launch Copper Perpetual Contract, Utilizing Pyth Network Price Data with No Expiration Date] Odaily Planet Daily News – Prediction market operator Kalshi submitted an application to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on August 18, proposing the launch of a copper perpetual contract, COPPERPERP. This contract will track the spot price of copper denominated in USD and will use price data from blockchain market data provider Pyth Network. The contract will be cash-settled and will not involve physical copper delivery; periodic payments between long and short traders will help align the contract price with copper prices. Perpetual contracts have no expiration date, allowing traders to hold positions indefinitely without needing to roll over to a new contract. Kalshi had previously received approval in May to offer Bitcoin perpetual contracts and had submitted an application for stock index perpetual contracts. Less than a week before the copper perpetual contract application, a judge in Washington State ordered the company to cease offering betting services related to sports, elections, politics, and other events in the region.
