[Wang Leehom at Unitree's Celebration Banquet: I Wanted a Mechanical Piano, Wang Xingxing Gave Me a Humanoid Robot]
BlockBeats News, August 19 — Unitree Robotics successfully completed its IPO today. Founder Wang Xingxing, Sequoia Capital's Neil Shen, and renowned singer Wang Leehom attended the appreciation banquet.
In his speech at the event, Wang Leehom reflected on his experience collaborating with Unitree Robotics on a humanoid robot stage performance. Wang Leehom shared that over a year ago, during his initial visit to Unitree Robotics, he had hoped the company could design a mechanical piano capable of moving around during a concert. However, Wang Xingxing responded, "We don't make pianos, but we do make humanoid robots."
Subsequently, the Unitree team input thousands of movements into the robot through motion capture and worked to integrate the robot into the complex choreography of an entire concert. During the final rehearsal, the robot encountered an issue where its timing gradually slowed. Wang Leehom noted that the Unitree engineering team worked overnight to write new code, synchronizing the robot with the lighting system's timecode, and completed the adjustments just before the official performance, ultimately ensuring a successful show.
He remarked that when faced with tasks they had never done before, the team repeatedly responded, "We haven't done this before, but we can definitely do it." Wang Leehom also mentioned that the day after the performance, Elon Musk shared the related performance video and commented, "Impressive."
At the appreciation banquet, Wang Leehom said, "Today, the financial world is buzzing too," and extended his congratulations to Wang Xingxing and the Unitree team.
