No need to spend a penny—solve a 10-year-old Bitcoin puzzle and win 6 BTC! Developer Sime has launched a browser mini-game called *Krackpot*: no registration, no deposits, no mining pools—just pure GPU brute force to crack the private key of the 2015 "Bitcoin Puzzle 71." This wallet holds about 7.1 BTC, untouched for years. Whoever cracks the private key gets to keep 6 BTC, while the remaining goes to the developer. The entire search process runs locally in your browser—no internet connection, no data uploads. If you actually find the private key, the signature is completed locally too, specifically to prevent "front-running" theft (a disaster that happened to solvers of Puzzle 66 and 69 before). How crazy are the odds? The private key is hidden within a range of approximately 1.18 quintillion (2^70) possible values. A single gaming GPU would need 830,000 years to have a decent chance of hitting it. Even with a million GPUs, it would still take a year. If every Steam player’s GPU worked together, the time could be compressed to about a week. The author even jokes that this is "the worst lottery in the world"
