According to Yonhap News, Seoul Customs has detained and referred a 29-year-old man, identified as Mr. A, to the prosecution for violating the "Narcotics Control Act." Investigations revealed that between December last year and April this year, Mr. A ordered drugs via overseas dark web platforms, paid for them using cryptocurrency, and smuggled them through international mail sent from Europe. Over six instances, he smuggled a total of four types of drugs, including 58.95g of synthetic marijuana, 6 cannabis vape cartridges, and 2.9g of cocaine.
To evade customs tracking, Mr. A conspired with overseas sellers to falsify recipient names and addresses on the packages and disguised the contents as "e-cigarettes." Additionally, during the crime, Mr. A used artificial intelligence to search for "ways to respond to being arrested" in an attempt to cover up his actions. Seoul Customs, through digital forensics and a four-month-long operation, eventually apprehended him and noted that he had a prior record of similar offenses.
